Rook ( Corvus frugilegus )

I took these photos at the manor house wildlife park, near Tenby in South Wales. We shared some of my mums birthday cake, it was pretty special.

They are incredibly intelligent birds, as are the rest of the corvid family.

Rooks are easily recognised by the pale grey patches around the base of their beaks. They nest colonially in rookeries at the top of trees. They are very common in Britain, they co-exist with us in the city and love living in the country in farmland and parkland.

The one on the right, kicking up a fuss was a young rook, trying to get its parent to feed it, they did a good job at ignoring their young's cry, I think I would of just given in, the young bird was pretty persistent.
